Distribution & Habitat:
Arreca vestiaria grows naturally in the volcanic mountains of North Sulawesi.
Culture:
Areca vestiaria prefers damp soil and a pH of 6.5 to 6.8. It likes high humidity, light shade and warmth. However, palms usually survive temperatures as low as 5° C.
Description:
This palm compares only to the sealing-wax palm in beauty and is one of the most ornamental pinnate palms. It is shade-loving and clustering. Areca vestiaria has been found in variations from stilt-rooted to having no aerial roots at all or from single stemmed to a densely clustered habit. At maturity this palm may have grown to a height of around 6 meters.
Climate Zones:
Tropical to sub-tropical, but has been grown in temperate climats if conditions are right.
